Adeyemo Ends Dark Time at Crawley

Contract Renewal and New Beginnings

Ade Adeyemo, aged 27, has signed a fresh two‑year contract with League Two side Crawley Town, sealing a new chapter after a period that almost ended his time with the club.

The defender re‑joined the Reds this week, six months after being dismissed amid a relegation battle when he believed his career at Crawley was over.

In an interview with BBC Radio Sussex, he expressed his happiness: “I’m very happy to be signing for this great club again.”

A Relegation Battle That Nearly Ended His Career

January proved harsh for Adeyemo. The manager, Scott Lindsey, left him out of the squad for seven consecutive games following a flurry of signings that added 13 players to the team.

The turning point arrived on 1 January when a 2‑1 defeat at Barnet left Crawley just two points above the drop zone. Adeyemo entered the final ten minutes of that match, only to see that cameo become his last appearance for more than six weeks.

He described the month as “a dark time” and said it was “not one of my favourite months.”

Managerial Shake‑Up and a Positional Shift

As results drifted, Lindsey was dismissed on 23 March, with Crawley perched a solitary point above the National League trapdoor. The arrival of new boss Colin Kazim‑Richards coincided with Adeyemo’s forced move to right‑back.

Injuries opened the door for the player to fill the unfamiliar role. He highlighted a strong performance against Gillingham and said the new position was both fun and challenging, despite never seeing himself as a full‑back.

Originally a winger or number ten, he admitted the switch felt “a bit crazy” but noted pre‑season as the perfect time to refine his defensive skills.

Looking Ahead with New Talent

The winter overhaul brought fresh optimism, including the arrival of midfielder Jude Arthurs from League Two champions Bromley. Adeyemo called the signing a morale boost for the squad.

He praised Arthurs’ league success and suggested the new talent could elevate Crawley’s ambitions: “I think we can do big things… we can go really far.”

Training Focus and Future Goals

Pre‑season serves as the platform for Adeyemo to improve his defensive game. He acknowledged there are still “a few bits” to work on but remains enthusiastic about the challenge.

The player also emphasized the importance of moving past the previous season’s relegation scrap, now secured on the final day, and building on the fresh start the club represents.
