Field High School Drops 2026 Football Schedule – First Look

Field Falcons 2026 Schedule Preview

Field kicks off its 2026 season against Ravenna on August 21 at 7 p.m., a non‑league opener that still carries a sense of history. The Falcons and Ravens have met each season since 2005, but always during conference play. This year Ravenna moves to the Greater Portage Athletic Conference, leaving the Falcons to face a familiar foe outside their regular schedule.

The rest of the list showcases a mix of new faces and old memories. Cuyahoga Falls, Roosevelt and Tallmadge join the Metro Athletic Conference as fresh opponents, while the Blue Devils and Rough Riders echo past rivalries. Notably, the Black Tigers of Cuyahoga Falls have not stepped onto Field’s turf in at least 50 years, adding a vintage element to the calendar.

New Look, Old Rivalries

Ravenna’s departure from the MAC means the Falcons will not see them again in league play. Instead, the Ravens become the opening non‑league opponent, keeping a long‑standing connection alive. The Falcons once played the Blue Devils every year through 2004, and then battled the Rough Riders annually from 2005 to 2014. Those historic matchups give this season a nostalgic flavor despite the league reshuffle.

The schedule also introduces three newcomers to the MAC: Cuyahoga Falls, Roosevelt and Tallmadge. Each brings its own story, with the Black Tigers representing a half‑century gap since the last contest. Meanwhile, Tallmadge and the Falcons share a recent competitive flow, adding depth to the conference pipeline.

Travel and Toughness

Field’s early slate offers a favorable start. Three of the first five opponents posted losing records in 2025, and four of the ten overall foes recorded three wins or fewer. This positioning gives the Falcons a realistic chance to build momentum early in the campaign. Additionally, three road games are within eight miles, keeping bus travel to a minimum and allowing focus on game preparation.

The season’s pacing also reflects a strategic approach after a 3‑7 finish last year. By facing weaker clubs early, the Falcons can secure quick victories and boost confidence. As the calendar advances, the competition tightens with conference‑aligned matchups beginning to surface.

What to Watch

The opening night against Ravenna sets the tone for a season of transitions. If the Falcons can capture an early win, momentum may ripple through the rest of the conference slate. The proximity of several road games also suggests coach‑player stamina will be a key factor as the season progresses.

Fan interest will likely be high, given the blend of historic rivalries and fresh challengers. The chance to see a half‑century‑old rivalry with Cuyahoga Falls reignited adds extra intrigue. With a balanced mix of travel, new opponents, and familiar faces, the 2026 edition promises to be a compelling chapter for Field football.
