Keldrid Ben Reaffirms Commitment to Oklahoma Sooners

Texas Four‑Star Locks in on OU

Keldrid Ben has kept Oklahoma’s 2027 recruiting class at 27 after publicly reaffirming his pledge to the Sooners on Friday. The Texas prospect hails from Montgomery High School and checks in at 5‑foot‑10, 208 pounds. Ben, a consensus four‑star recruit, burst onto the scene with 18 rushing touchdowns and more than 1,500 yards as a junior in 2025.

Rivals ranks Ben as the No. 86 overall player in the class, while 247Sports puts him 14th among running backs, 39th in Texas and 225th nationally. He signed with OU on December 1st and has since closed the door on other interested programs. The commitment solidifies a backfield that already includes fellow Texan Jakoby Dixon.

Ben joins Dixon as Oklahoma’s only running‑back pledges for the 2027 cycle, giving the program two home‑grown options from the same state. Running backs coach Deland McCullough retained a player originally tied to his predecessor, former NFL star DeMarco Murray. Head coach Brent Venables and general manager Jim Nagy are shaping a top‑flight class after a productive 2025 campaign.

The addition is viewed as a key piece in Venables and Nagy’s rebuilding effort in Norman, providing depth at a position that proved crucial to the Sooners’ recent success. With the class now sitting at 27 commitments, the Sooners can point to Ben’s upside as they look to compete for conference honors in the coming seasons. The Texas commit’s versatility and work‑ethic fit the aggressive, physical rushing attack Venables envisions for the future.
