Trust in the Coaching Staff

During a recent KFOA media day, the four‑star tight end shared why the Volunteers earned his allegiance. “It just came down to the fact that I could trust this coaching staff more than I could trust the other coaching staffs,” Howard explained. He added, “I want to play for them and win championships together.” The commitment marks a clear endorsement of Tennessee’s program vision.

Why Tennessee Overcame Other Power Programs

Howard evaluated several elite options before making his choice. He committed to the Vols over Notre Dame, Oregon and Alabama, dismissing those squads in favor of a team he felt aligned with. The decision came after a period of intense recruiting, with Kentucky extending the first scholarship offer on May 23, 2024, followed by Tennessee on June 5, 2024.

2025 Junior Production

As a junior in 2025, Howard amassed 53 receptions for 778 yards and 11 touchdowns. Those numbers highlight his role as a key offensive weapon at Oak Ridge High School. The player expressed relief that the recruiting process is now complete, allowing him to focus fully on the upcoming season.

Oak Ridge’s Playoff Campaign
