Conor McGregor Suffers ACL Tear at UFC 329
Comeback Ends in Knee Injury
Conor McGregor limped out of the T‑Mobile Arena after his UFC 329 showdown, refusing crutches and heading straight to medical care. He opened the fight against Max Holloway with a jumping roundhouse kick that looked like a mis‑calculated move. The awkward landing appeared to blow out his knee, prompting his team to escort him from the octagon.
White’s Injury Update
UFC CEO Dana White addressed reporters following the bout, emphasizing the strain of a five‑year absence. He speculated that the injury is a ruptured ACL, a view shared by the on‑site medical personnel. McGregor, now 38, also carries a history of severe knee problems, having torn the same ligament in 2013 and broken his left leg during the 2021 trilogy against Dustin Poirier.
What Lies Ahead for McGregor
White indicated that an MRI will clarify the full extent of the damage, leaving McGregor’s fighting future unclear. After stepping away for half a decade, the Irish star could face another year— or more—off the canvas. Whether he ever returns to the cage remains an open question.
