Aiden Robbins Joins Mets In 3rd Round
Mets Secure Top Prospect
The New York Mets used the 92nd pick to select Aiden Robbins, a Longhorns outfielder who spent his final collegiate season with Texas. Robbins, one of the top performers in the 2026 season, is expected to quickly rise through the Mets’ minor‑league system. His selection caps a night that also saw Carson Tinney go to Minnesota and Ruger Riojas head to Philadelphia.
College Highlights
As a junior, Robbins batted .333 over 60 games, smashing career highs of 24 home runs, 64 RBIs and 68 runs scored. He finished his college career with a .355 average in 156 games split between Seton Hall and Texas, after two productive years with the Pirates. Robbins also turned heads in the Cape Cod League, posting a .328 average that showcased his readiness for professional pitching.
Draft Projections and Concerns
Baseball America had projected Robbins as the 28th overall pick, but he slipped into the third round due to questions about his swing against higher‑velocity and spinning pitches. Scouts worry that if he begins to strike out frequently, his progress could stall. However, if Robbins limits strikeouts and refines his approach, he could become a key contributor in the Mets’ line‑up within a few seasons.
Now focused on improving every facet of his game, Robbins aims to reach the majors and provide depth in New York’s outfield. His combination of power, speed and a solid batting average makes him an attractive addition for a rebuilding club looking for immediate impact. The Mets view him as a cornerstone of their future offensive identity.
