Los Blancos are reportedly handling a third simultaneous contract renewal, but the identity of the player remains unknown. According to a recent report by Jose Felix Diaz, the obvious candidate for this extension is Thibaut Courtois.

Courtois: The Likely Candidate

Thibaut Courtois, now 34, still ranks among the best goalkeepers in his role. His current pact expires in 2027, leaving less than a year remaining on his deal.

Real Madrid traditionally offers veterans only short‑term pacts, so Courtois’s new contract is expected to be a one‑year extension, pushing his tenure to the summer of 2028.

Nursing an Injury

Courtois starred for Belgium in the FIFA World Cup, playing every minute through the quarterfinal versus Spain. He exited after the 70‑minute mark due to a painful thigh issue.

Belgium’s campaign ended in that match, marking the close of Courtois’s World Cup run. He plans to unwind on vacation before rejoining Real Madrid for preseason preparations.
