New Basketball Schedule Unveiled

The Lobos have locked in nine of their 13 nonconference games for the upcoming season, plus two exhibition contests. Key dates include a neutral‑court showdown against Utah Tech on Nov. 2 and a home tilt versus New Mexico State on Dec. 5, both staged in the Pit. The remaining fixtures feature road trips to Santa Clara (Nov. 14) and Wichita State (Nov. 21), as well as home games against Utah State, Saint Mary’s, and a California‑based event hosting Boise State and Oregon State in late December.

Quad 1 Ambitions and NET Rankings

Coach Eric Olen expressed optimism that the Wichita State clash could earn Quad 1 status, a classification that bolsters NCAA tournament resumes. The Lobos closed last season with a NET ranking of 46, while the Shockers finished at 70 and are tied for second in the American Conference. As the road team this year, Wichita State would need to finish the year inside the top 75 NET to repeat the Quad 1 distinction.

Public Practice and Camps Planned

A second open‑to‑the‑public summer practice is slated for July 21 in the Pit, beginning at 6 p.m. Attendees receive free parking by informing the attendant they are there for basketball, despite a concurrent Albuquerque Isotopes game requiring charged parking elsewhere. The event marks a return to the Pit after a previous session and is being billed as a “!?”‑style gathering for fans.

Former Lobo Updates

Former Lobo forward Josiah Allick made his NBA Summer League debut with the Charlotte Hornets, logging a single rebound in 57 seconds without attempting a shot. Meanwhile, transfer Timeo Pons, now at Abilene Christian, erupted for 23 points on 6‑of‑9 threes, along with 10 rebounds and three steals, leading France’s U20 team to a 95‑66 victory over Germany.

Youth Camps Underway

Eric Olen’s second kids’ camp of the summer will run July 27‑30 in the Pit, open to boys and girls from first through eighth grade. Interested families can contact assistant coach Michael Wilder at [email protected] for registration details. This camp continues the program’s commitment to developing the next generation of Lobo talent.
