LA28 Volunteer Drive Opens Two Years Before 2028 Games

Two years out from the Olympic Opening Ceremony, Los Angeles organizers have opened the application window for Games‑time volunteer roles. The LA28 Volunteer Program, presented by Delta Air Lines, is now live at the volunteer portal, where interested candidates can explore all available positions. This early push gives aspirants plenty of time to prepare for the March‑August 2028 Olympic window and the following August‑September Paralympics.

Eight Core Categories of Service

Volunteers will be placed in communications, driving, experience, medical, ceremonies, operations, sport, and technology teams. Some positions, such as medical support and language translation, require specialized skills that can be noted on the application. The diverse range of roles ensures that both generalists and experts can contribute to the Games’ success.

Those who have already expressed interest will receive an email outlining the next steps in the application process. The program aims to build a workforce of roughly 60,000 volunteers for both the Olympics and the Paralympics combined.

Scale, Commitment, and Timeline

Each Games‑time volunteer must sign up for at least ten shifts within their assigned period. Olympic volunteers will be active from March through August 2028, while Paralympic volunteers will serve during August and September of the same year. A commitment of ten shifts helps ensure a reliable presence across the extensive schedule of events.

The majority of assignments are clustered in the greater Los Angeles area, where the bulk of competition venues will be located. Additional posts are planned for Oklahoma City, which will host canoe slalom and softball, and for soccer venues spread across the United States. This nationwide footprint mirrors the Games’ goal of engaging communities far beyond the host city.

Ticket Drop Set for August

While volunteers gear up, fans who missed the first ticket allocation will have a second chance. The next LA28 ticket drop is scheduled for August 10 through August 20, offering fresh availability for both Olympic and Paralympic events. This window gives enthusiasts another opportunity to secure seats for the Summer Games two years from now.
