Sadie Lusky opened the scoring with a line drive single, setting the tone for a 11‑1 victory over South Rockwood in the winners’ bracket final of the 52nd Monroe County Fair Softball Tournament.

Lusky finished 4‑for‑5 with a double and drove in four runs, never striking out in the contest. The knockout blow came in the third inning when she delivered a bases‑loaded double that plated two runners.

Coach Travis Lusky praised his daughter, noting, “She’s been lights out.” The offensive surge was complemented by Elsie Burhart and Evelyn Daniel, who each drove in runs with singles later in the same inning.

Additional Offensive Contributors

Ella Derian matched Lusky with a 4‑for‑5 performance, including a double that helped push the scoring. Palmer Albring collected three hits, and Burhart added two more singles to widen the margin.

Ida’s run tally continued in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, adding three, one and three more runs respectively.

Pitching Dominance

Logan Everett hurled three hitless innings for Ida, allowing only a single baserunner. The sophomore paired with Sadie Lusky, who recorded five strikeouts and gave up just an unearned run.

“We’ve got a good team,” Coach Lusky said. “These girls are scrappy.”

South Rockwood managed a lone run, driven in by Violet Linzell, with additional contributions from Eliott Duffy, Sophia Piepsney and Piper Cadogan.

Tournament Standings and Next Steps

The win sends Ida to the championship game set for 4 p.m. on Thursday, with a potential second‑game finale at 6 p.m. if needed. South Rockwood will face either Whiteford or Mason in a semifinal later today.
