FC Bayern Women Unveil New Home Ahead of August Opener

Stadium Overhaul Underway

Construction crews battled a summer downpour atop a crane at Sportpark Unterhaching to finish upgrading the floodlights ahead of the stadium’s official opening on 9 August. The venue will host a friendly match between FC Bayern Women and Paris FC, with tickets available via the club’s online portal. “We’re looking forward to our new home,” said Bianca Rech, director of FC Bayern Women, during a tour of the site. The ground, situated less than 15 minutes from Säbener Straße, is being refurbished step by step.

Work includes converting the old lights to sustainable LED, repositioning the dugouts, refurbishing sections of the stands, and replacing the goal nets. A fresh pitch will be laid in early September to meet UEFA standards and the club’s own quality benchmarks. All Women’s Champions League games this season will initially take place at Unterhaching, with the Allianz Arena kept as a backup for knockout ties.

Key Figures and Partnerships

Jürgen Muth, managing director of Allianz Arena GmbH, oversees the construction and praised the cooperation of Unterhaching municipality and SpVgg Unterhaching, the fourth‑tier side that remains on the site. Club president Manfred Schwabl continues to coordinate major developments with the builders. After acquiring the complex last year, FC Bayern’s planning team, together with Rech and the architects, toured the training facilities of Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona to gather ideas.

The club also highlighted the fresh opportunities the Sportpark provides for advancing women’s football. “FC Bayern is sending a clear signal here as to how strongly it supports women’s football,” Rech explained, noting that the 2029 Women’s Euros in Germany will showcase the new infrastructure. The director added that the stadium and its attached training centre will be “truly unique in this form,” allowing the team to attract more spectators and fans.

Future Vision and Impact

By 2029 the women’s squad will relocate entirely from the FC Bayern Campus to the south of Munich, bringing all training and match operations—including the youth teams—into the new complex. The goal is to create a European‑standard training hub that positions the club at a “whole new level and standard.” The expanded facilities are expected to boost professionalism and fan engagement across the region.

FC Bayern Women returned to pre‑season action on Monday, as captured in the club’s update titled “Grins on the grass: FCB Women complete first session with ball.” The team’s preseason schedule will help them acclimate to the upgraded pitch and the evolving stadium environment as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
