Briana Cedillo commits to Big Bend Community College

New Lady Viking joins BBCC after standout Royal Knights career

Briana Cedillo has inked a letter of intent to play for the Big Bend Community College Lady Vikings women’s basketball program. The Royal Knights guard’s decision caps a high‑school career that saw her break school records and earn multiple league honors. Coach Preston Wilks recruited her after watching a YouTube stream of a game against Wapato, impressed by her playmaking abilities. Cedillo chose the Vikings because of the team‑first culture and the emphasis on collective success.

Legacy at the Royal Knights

While at Royal Knights, Cedillo tied the school’s single‑game three‑point record by hitting seven shots. She earned All‑League recognition beginning in her sophomore season and finished with 37 threes as a senior, bringing her career total to 98. Her senior year also produced a third‑place finish in the 1A state tournament, the Knights’ first appearance since 2001. Playing alongside her sister Vanesa for three varsity seasons was a highlight, as the siblings often swapped assists and kept each other motivated.

What Wilks saw that convinced him

Wilks describes Cedillo as a versatile guard who can handle point responsibilities, a skill he values for the team’s offensive scheme. He also notes her speed after a friendly foot race where she edged out one of his fastest players. Defensively, she is “a little pest” on the perimeter, known for tight man‑handling. Beyond court play, Wilks says the reputation of Cedillo’s character—responsible, accountable, a good student—solidifies the Vikings’ interest.

Early leadership on the hardwood

Cedillo entered varsity as a freshman, quickly assuming a role that ranged from bringing the ball up to carrying point loads in later years. She credits the Knights program with teaching her how to manage responsibility and contribute in multiple capacities. The experience, she says, prepared her to take on a similar leadership role with BBCC. Coach Wilks is eager to see her impact over the next two seasons, confident that her work ethic and basketball IQ will fit seamlessly.

Looking ahead

Now that the commitment is official, Cedillo will begin preparing for life at Big Bend Community College, focusing on refining her game and integrating with the Lady Vikings’ system. She expects the transition to be smooth, buoyed by the support of a program that values teamwork and success together. Fans and recruiters alike are watching for Cedillo to bring her scoring touch, speed, and competitive spirit to the collegiate level, hoping she will soon add her own name to the Vikings’ legacy.
