Dominant High School Career

Bradley Sawka built a reputation in Ellington that few can match. He captured the GametimeCT Boys Golfer of the Year honor in back‑to‑back seasons, 2022 and 2023, and was also named Big East Freshman of the Year in 2024. His high school résumé showcases a player who consistently delivered under pressure and set new standards for emerging talent in the region.

Breakout Summer and Statewide Recognition

Last summer proved to be a watershed year for Sawka. He reached the final round of the Connecticut Amateur, placed fourth in both the Connecticut Open and the Four‑Ball Championship, and claimed victories in three separate one‑day tournaments. Those performances earned him the Connecticut State Golf Association’s Dick Tettelbach Player of the Year award, cementing his status as the top amateur in the state.

College Experience at UConn

During his junior season with the UConn men’s golf team, Sawka posted five top‑10 finishes and a 70.7 average per round. He recorded 25 rounds at par or better, including a career‑low 66, and earned spots on the PING All‑Northeast Region team and the All‑Big East Conference Second Team. Highlights included a regulation tie for first at the UConn Invitational—though he fell in a sudden‑death playoff—and a sixth‑place finish at the Big East Championships, marking his best season with the Huskies.

Decision to Transfer

The transfer talk did not surface until later in his junior year, when a strong finish sparked a reassessment of his options. Sawka consulted with his parents and decided to explore the portal after weighing how far he could push his game. He mailed dozens of college programs the morning after entering the portal; Stanford reached out first, and TCU—another program he visited—also expressed interest, alongside several other schools.
