Pedro Porro Shines as Barcelona Scouts Watch
Spain’s Star Right‑Back Makes a Name for Himself
According to Mundo Deportivo, Pedro Porro’s performances for Spain at the 2026 FIFA World Cup have caught the eye of several top clubs. The Tottenham defender scored against Austria in the Round of 16 and again in the semi‑final versus France, where he helped secure a win. Deco was on hand to see him in action against Portugal and Belgium, while Joan Laporta attended the France match. His partnership with Lamine Yamal on the right flank has become one of Spain’s most reliable attacking options.
Porro’s displays combine defensive solidity with attacking flair, earning him praise as one of the tournament’s best full‑backs. The growing chemistry between him and Yamal has been highlighted as a key strength for the national side. These standout showings have not gone unnoticed among European clubs, especially at Camp Nou.
Tottenham Secure Porro’s Future
Spain’s managing director, Deco, has been following the right‑back closely, but Tottenham anticipated interest and acted quickly. The Premier League club extended Porro’s contract through 2031, with an optional extra year, and placed him among its highest earners. The new agreement removes any realistic chance of a move this summer, given the length and financial commitment. Tottenham’s decision effectively shuts the door on any potential transfer to Barcelona or elsewhere.
The renewal also reflects the club’s confidence in Porro’s ability to form a solid defensive backbone for years to come. It underscores Tottenham’s strategy of tying down key players before the latter stages of the World Cup. As a result, Porro will remain at the London Stadium for the foreseeable future.

Barcelona Keeps Its Priorities Straight
Although Joan Laporta and Deco are admirers, Barcelona are not actively pursuing a right‑back this summer. Hansi Flick already has Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, and young prospects Xavi Espart and Hector Fort ready for that slot. The club’s focus is on bolstering the left side of the defence, with a deal for Joao Cancelo from Al Hilal at the top of the agenda. A centre‑back would only become a realistic target if Ronald Araujo were to leave before the window closes.
Porro’s potential arrival is considered an unlikely scenario, given Tottenham’s new contract and Barcelona’s current defensive lineup. For now, fans can expect the Spaniard to continue impressing for his national team while staying at Tottenham. The partnership he shares with Lamine Yamal may keep thriving internationally, but replicating that duo at Camp Nou remains a distant dream.
