Panthers Re-Sign Christensen, Three Free Agents Unsigned
The Carolina Panthers have added offensive lineman Brady Christensen to their roster for another season. The 29‑year‑old signed a one‑year contract after clearing the injury protocol for an Achilles tear that ended his 2025 campaign. He was on the open market through the summer before the Panthers made the deal official.
Christensen becomes the 15th player from last year’s roster to rejoin the Panthers this offseason, underscoring Carolina’s effort to retain depth on the line. His return gives the team a familiar presence in the trenches as they prepare for training camp. The move also signals the Panthers’ confidence that his recovery will translate into on‑field contribution.
Meanwhile, three Panthers from the 2025 roster remain unsigned as training camp approaches. The following players have not yet re‑signed with the team:
- Curhan – Appeared in 13 games, the most of the trio, and started at right guard during the Week 13 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. He weighs 313 pounds and measures 6‑ft‑6.
- Barnes – Logged seven appearances with three starts, collecting 23 combined tackles and half a sack. His performance on the edge contributed to the defensive units throughout the season.
- Mathis – Missed the entire year after rupturing his ACL in early September, ending a season before it began.
The unsigned trio leaves gaps the Panthers will need to address, particularly on the defensive line and guard positions. Curhan’s experience and size could be a valuable addition if he re‑signs, while Barnes brings pass‑rush potential. Mathis’s injury status makes his return uncertain for another year.
