Mexico will host the championship across two venues: Puebla and Mexico City. The competition awards four berths to the 2027 U20 World Cup and a single slot for the 2028 Olympic tournament. Because the United States will host the Olympic event, the Americans automatically secure a spot, leaving one remaining opening that Mexico must fight for. Rival nations such as Canada and Panama are also in contention, making the Olympic berth a steep target.

Although Mexico is favored to advance to the World Cup due to its host status and the increased number of available slots, the squad’s depth is a concern. Many players have limited experience in Mexico’s top flight, which could hinder performance against stronger regional sides.
