Two Friendly Matches Provide Early Test

Manchester United’s academy launched its pre‑season with a double‑header in Germany, marking the second year in a row the club has used the Adidas HQ campus in Herzogenaurach as its training base.

The first clash came against TSV 1860 Munich U17s, where United fielded a younger lineup that showcased the new 2026 scholar intake stepping up to full‑time football.

Jay McEvoy, an Irish youth international, skippered the side to a 2‑0 victory. Jariyah Shah opened the scoring from the spot, and Jaume Camacho, a first‑year scholar, added the second. Camron Mpofu, Junior Brown, Manu Ziro, Sam O’Brien and Jaice Dore also featured in the win.

Later that night, the U21 group faced 1. FC Nürnberg U19s in stormy conditions. Finley McAllister, Jayce Fitzgerald, Albert Mills, Louis Jackson and Diego Leon were among the older players who took the field.

Towards the 20th minute, thunderstorms forced a 20‑minute pause, and the match was later abandoned with the score tied at 0‑0.

Looking Ahead to the Rest of the Campaign

The U21s have a confirmed fixture on 31 July against Altrincham, providing another chance to build rhythm ahead of the summer competition calendar.

In mid‑August United will return to the Otten Innovation Cup, a tournament that has become a staple for the youth set‑up.

Meanwhile, the U16s are slated to compete in the SuperCupNI later this month before heading to Hong Kong for the JC Youth Football Academy Summit in August.
