Amit Bhatia, a British‑Indian businessman, is leading a group of investors interested in acquiring a minority share in Liverpool Football Club. He is connected to steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal through marriage, giving the consortium high‑profile financial backing. Fenway Sports Group (FSG), Liverpool’s current owners, have confirmed that Bhatia’s group has made an approach for the deal.

Valuation and Deal Timeline

Advisers hired by Bhatia are working on an offer that could value the club at more than $6 billion, according to the Financial Times. The negotiations are still in the earliest phase, with no agreement reached yet. FSG previously sold a minority stake to Dynasty in 2023 for an estimated $100–200 million, a move intended to strengthen Liverpool’s long‑term position.

Leadership Change at QPR

Within hours of the Liverpool interest emerging, Bhatia resigned from his director and co‑owner role at Queens Park Rangers (QPR). The 46‑year‑old Londoner will hand over his ownership of the Championship club to majority owner Ruben Gnanalingam. In a farewell statement, Bhatia thanked the players, staff, community trust, board members and especially the fans who made his family feel part of the QPR family for many years.
