Royals Smash 4 HRs, Crush Phillies Ace Sánchez With 9 Runs

Royals Dominate Phillies 15-1 in Record-Breaking Win

Explosive Offensive Showing

The Royals erupted for a season‑high 15 runs on 22 hits, scoring in every inning against the Phillies. Salvador Perez, Luke Maile, Lane Thomas and Tyler Tolbert each added home runs, lifting the club to a lopsided victory. Tyler Tolbert’s five hits marked his first career five‑hit game and the first for a Royals hitter since 2022. Bobby Witt Jr. opened the scoring with a fielder’s‑choice run in the first inning, and Perez’s 314th career home run moved him within three of George Brett’s franchise record.

Sánchez’s Nightmarish Night

Cristopher Sánchez surrendered nine earned runs, a career‑worst output for the Phillies ace. Six of those runs came in the first inning, matching his worst performance of the season from late April. The left‑hander allowed 12 hits, one walk and struck out a single batter as his ERA climbed from 2.00 to 2.62. The Phillies could only manage one run in the top of the first despite having at least one baserunner each inning.

Royals Pitching Holds Strong

Noah Cameron (5‑6) turned in a solid five‑inning effort, permitting just one run on six hits while walking five and striking out seven. His performance helped the Royals build an early cushion that never evaporated. The Phillies placed runners on base in every frame but were unable to capitalize beyond the initial run.

Looking Ahead to the Next Series

Philadelphia will travel to Cincinnati, where Zack Wheeler (8‑1, 2.36 ERA) is set to start for the Phillies. The Royals open a road series in New York against the Mets, with Seth Lugo (3‑6, 4.20 ERA) on the mound. Neither the Cincinnati Reds nor the New York Mets have announced their starters yet.
