Al Nassr ‘We Never Stop’ Hire Postecoglou to Chase Titles

Al Nassr appoints Ange Postecoglou

A bold move after Jesus era

Jorge Jesus left Al Nassr after guiding the club to a championship‑winning season and a first Roshn Saudi League title in seven years. The Portuguese boss had built a reputation for relentless attacking football and high standards both on and off the pitch. Replacing a serial winner like Jesus was never going to be easy for the House of Nassr.

The Saudis turned to Ange Postecoglou, an Australian manager known for front‑heavy, entertaining play. He signs a two‑year deal after his recent stint with Tottenham Hotspur, where he lifted the UEFA Europa League – Spurs’ first trophy in almost two decades and their first major European honour in 41 years. Postecoglou’s defensive résumé includes a brief spell with Nottingham Forest, and he was also linked to the Scotland national team before choosing Al Nassr.

Postecoglou’s career is marked by rebuilding clubs and delivering trophies quickly. At Brisbane Roar he took over mid‑season, restored confidence and posted a 39‑game unbeaten streak – an Australian record – while winning back‑to‑back titles. The former Socceroos boss then led Australia to the 2015 AFC Asian Cup on home soil. In Japan he steered Yokohama F. Marinos from near relegation to the 2018‑19 J1 League crown, nurturing talents such as Takefusa Kubo and Daizen Maeda.

His most recent adventure saw him unleash a high‑pressing system at Celtic, where “We Never Stop” became the mantra. Celtic captured consecutive league titles and collected five of the six domestic trophies across two seasons. At Tottenham he earned Premier League Manager of the Month for the first three months of 2023‑24, finishing fifth and securing Europa League qualification – a promise he kept by delivering silverware in his second campaign.

At Al Nassr, Postecoglou inherits a squad that already plays an aggressive brand of football pioneered by Jesus. The side needs little overhaul, and fans hope the new boss will not require a second season to lift silverware. The club’s recent domestic success, highlighted by Ronaldo’s decisive strikes, points to a stronger foundation for further triumphs.

The immediate goal is the 2026‑27 RSL championship and a run in the AFC Asian Champions League Elite. This marks a shift for Postecoglou: rather than building from scratch, he will now extend an already successful project. Jesus, a two‑time RSL winner, leaves big shoes to fill, and Postecoglou – “Big Ange” – is seen as the ideal successor to continue the attacking legacy.
