Mario Gila Moves to AC Milan, Lazio Target Sergi Dominguez
Gila’s Transfer to AC Milan
Lazio and AC Milan have agreed on a €30 million deal for center‑back Mario Gila. The sale breaks Lazio’s net‑zero transfer policy, freeing the club to invest in new players despite sharing half the profit with Gila’s former club Real Madrid. The financial injection from the transfer will allow Lazio to pursue fresh signings this summer. Gila’s move marks a key moment for both sides, reshaping their squads ahead of the next season.
Lazio’s Replacement Plan
The club’s first priority is securing a replacement for Gila, and Sergi Dominguez has emerged as the leading candidate. The 21‑year‑old Barcelona youth product is impressing at Dinamo Zagreb, where he helped the team capture the domestic double. Dinamo is demanding €12 million, a figure Lazio hopes to meet with added bonuses. Negotiations with Dinamo have resumed, and the deal is expected to be finalized soon. In addition to Dominguez, Lazio are also monitoring other options to shore up their defense.
Other Transfer Targets
Lazio’s management is keeping a close eye on several other players as they reshape the squad. The club is interested in Bayern Munich’s 20‑year‑old attacking midfielder Jonathan Asp Jensen, viewing him as a potential midfield boost. Meanwhile, striker Roberto Piccoli from Fiorentina is seen as a fit for Gennaro Gattuso’s attack, though a loan deal seems more realistic given Lazio’s budget constraints. Fabrizio’s former club, Cagliari, paid €25 million for Piccoli last year, and Fiorentina may be open to a temporary move.
