Rockets Sign Quadir Copeland to Two‑Way Contract

Rockets Add Undrafted Guard to roster

Houston has secured former NC State guard Quadir Copeland on a two‑way agreement, the team announced Wednesday. The 22‑year‑old undrafted player will split time between the NBA and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the G League next season. Copeland is slated to earn $678,882, which represents half of the minimum salary for a player with no service time.

Copeland’s College Resume

After spending his first two college seasons at Syracuse, Copeland transferred to McNeese State for his junior year. He earned All‑Southland Conference second‑team honors in 2024‑25, posting averages of 9.2 points, 4.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game. At NC State, he was named an All‑ACC third‑team selection.

During his final season with the Wolfpack, Copeland averaged 13.9 points, 6.5 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals while hitting 39.7% from three‑point range. He recorded 222 total assists, ranking 11th nationally and marking the 10th‑most in a single season for the program.

Statistical Highlights from Last Year

Copeland was one of only three players to average at least 13 points, six assists and 1.7 steals per game. He posted double‑digit assist counts four times, including a remarkable 16 assists without a turnover on February 3—the most in the past seven years. His 1.8 steals per game underscore his defensive impact.

Summer League Plans

Houston will see Copeland in action during NBA Summer League, beginning Friday against the Denver Nuggets in Las Vegas. The matchup is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast on ESPN2. Summer League appearances often serve as a showcase for two‑way contract players like Copeland.

The two‑way contract allows him to develop with the Vipers while maintaining an opportunity to contribute to the Rockets’ roster, should Coach Ime Udoka choose to bring him up after training camp.
