Allingham Claims Superstock Victory at Brands Hatch
Superstock 1000 cc Triumph for Allingham
David Allingham crossed the line in Saturday’s opening race at Brands Hatch to secure his fifth win of the campaign. The SMS/Nicholl Oils BMW rider edged out Luke Mossey by a slender two‑tenths of a second, with Milenco by Padgett’s Honda taking the runner‑up spot. Lewis Rollo completed the podium, while another Northern Ireland rider, Scott Swann, held fourth. Simon Reid finished the field in ninth position.
With the victory, Allingham now leads the National Superstock 1000 cc standings, holding a narrow edge over nearest challenger Mossey. The tight contest between the two indicates that the championship will remain fiercely competitive through the remainder of the season.
The win also highlights Allingham’s consistency across multiple meetings this year, a factor that could prove decisive in the fight for the series title.
Irwin Returns to the Grid after Snetterton Crash
Glenn Irwin, the Carrickfergus native, made a comeback to competition by finishing seventh in the first British Superbike race of the weekend. He had been sidelined by hip and neck injuries sustained in a four‑rider pile‑up two weeks earlier at Snetterton. Irwin’s seventh‑place result signals a strong rebound after the demanding recovery period.
While his points tally will be modest at this stage, the performance offers encouragement for the rest of the season. The British Superbike grid will watch Irwin’s progress as he continues to regain full fitness.
Ryde Extends Championship Lead
Kyle Ryde, the defending champion, opened the weekend with victory in race one, pushing his advantage over Scott Redding to a 19‑point margin at the top of the standings. Redding secured second place ahead of Max Cook, who completed the podium. The 19‑point gap demonstrates Ryde’s strong start to the campaign despite fresh challengers.
Maintaining this lead will require consistent performances, but the current buffer gives Ryde breathing room should any minor setbacks occur. The British Superbike championship now hinges on whether Ryde can protect his advantage through the remaining rounds.
Supersport Sprint Podium Revealed
In the Supersport sprint race, Dubliner Jack Kennedy took second place behind Oli Bayliss, while Ben Currie claimed third. Lee Johnston finished tenth overall. Kennedy’s podium finish adds valuable points to his season tally, though he trails Bayliss at the top of the race results.
The spread of competitors in the sprint reflects the depth of talent across the British championship ladder. Kennedy’s performance may boost his hopes of challenging for higher placements later in the series.
