Ally Hetzel Named to Northwoods League All-Star Game

Dominant Summer for Hetzel and the Huskies

Ally Hetzel, a catcher from Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie, Washington, shined for the Washington Huskies during the Northwoods Softball League’s inaugural summer. The rising sophomore, who spent the season with the Grand Forks Spitfires, posted a .452 batting average and a 1.288 OPS over 16 games.

During that stretch, Hetzel recorded 19 hits, one home run, 19 runs, 10 RBIs, seven walks and three stolen bases. Her offensive output helped the Huskies finish tied for second place in the league, showcasing her ability to produce at the collegiate summer level.

Prior to the summer, Hetzel was a breakout freshman for coach Heather Tarr’s squad. She batted .316 with a 1.016 OPS, tallied 35 hits, six home runs, 23 RBIs, 21 runs and 22 walks. The consistency between her freshman year and the summer suggests a strong trajectory for her college career.

Building the Huskies’ Lineup

The Huskies boast one of the Big Ten’s top offenses, thanks in part to their infielders Alexis DeBoer and Giselle Alvarez, catcher Jadyn Glab and outfielder Kaycie Burdick. Together with Hetzel, they form a core that could push the team deeper into the Women’s College World Series next spring.
