Top Receiver Classes Shaping 2027 Season
California’s Receiver Powerhouse
Cal has staked its claim as the nation’s No. 22 recruiting class by securing three top‑30 wide‑receiver pledges. Charles Davis, a 4‑star prospect ranked No. 87 nationally and No. 15 at his position, inked his commitment on April 10, and his stock has continued to rise. Demare Dezeurn, a former Oklahoma target, and Zion White, a Hawaii‑based prospect who chose Berkeley over North Carolina and Washington, both committed last month, giving the Bears depth at the position. With this trio, Cal is the only program that currently boasts three receivers inside the top‑30 rankings.
Florida’s Gators Add In‑State Talent
Under new head coach Jon Sumrall, Florida has built a No. 8 class that leans heavily on in‑state receivers. The Gators’ biggest splash came in May when they outbid Georgia for Elias Pearl, a 4‑star ranked No. 95 nationally and No. 19 at his spot, and a top‑10 player in the Rivals300 Florida rankings. Tramond Collins, originally a Billy Napier commitment, reopened his recruitment and returned to the fold in March; the dynamic two‑way athlete is set to line up as a receiver for Marcus Davis. Anthony Jennings, a 4‑star from Florida, joined the squad in April after picking UF over Miami, rounding out the Gators’ three‑receiver haul.
Washington’s Husky Hustle
Washington has leapt into the No. 23 recruiting class with four receiver commits, three of which are blue‑chip prospects. The Huskies traveled to Texas to secure Tre Moore, a 4‑star ranked No. 181 nationally and No. 27 at his position, beating Miami and Ohio State; Moore posted over 1,400 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior. Braylon Pope, the No. 1 player in Washington state, has been committed since December but will sit out his senior season after shoulder surgery. UF’s other signees, Dontay Tyson and Zerek Sidney, both top‑15 prospects in Arizona, arrived via trips to Tucson—Sidney pledged in January, while Tyson sealed his commitment during official visit season.
Other Notable Classes
Oregon’s receiver pipeline remains active with 5‑star Xavier Sabb (No. 32 nationally, No. 5 WR) joining four‑star Dakota Guerrant (No. 42, No. 7) and 3‑star Malachi Garlington (No. 1,314, No. 172). Texas A&M added three signees: Eric McFarland (No. 37, No. 6), Jaden Upshaw (No. 55, No. 10) and Damani Warren (No. 423, No. 57), plus 3‑star Trey Haddad (No. 1,287, No. 170). Texas’ haul centers on Five‑Star Plus+ Easton Royal (No. 6, No. 1), complemented by Briceson Thrower (No. 313, No. 47) and Kyron Brown (No. 839, No. 112). Miami secured 5‑star Nick Lennear (No. 17, No. 4) and 4‑star Eli Woodard (No. 156, No. 23), while USC’s commitments include Quentin Hale (No. 68, No. 12) and Roye Oliver (No. 92, No. 18).
What It Means for 2027
With 52 of the 55 blue‑chip receivers already committed, the recruiting landscape is essentially set, and the programs that have locked in multiple top‑30 pledges will enter the season with depth at a position that consistently drives multiple passes. Cal’s trio gives the Bears a clear No. 1 receiving core in the ACC, while Florida’s in‑state focus strengthens local talent pipelines and signals a strategic direction under Sumrall. Washington’s aggressive out‑of‑state recruiting showcases the Huskies’ willingness to invest in premium upside, and the other listed schools have built respectable stacks that could become sleeper groups in the ACC, Big Ten, Pac‑12, and SEC. As the 2027 class settles in, these receiver commitments will likely shape offensive schemes and playtime allocations across the country.
