Adeyemi’s Barcelona Move on Wait for Laporta and Deco

Deal Finalised with Dortmund

Karim Adeyemi has completed a €22 million transfer to Barcelona, with an additional €7 million in performance bonuses. Borussia Dortmund will keep a share of any future capital gain if the German winger is sold later. Adeyemi passed his medical on Thursday, removing the last sporting hurdle for the move. The agreement makes him Barcelona’s second signing of the 2026/27 campaign.

Announcement Pushed Back

Barcelona had hoped to unveil the winger before the weekend, allowing him to join Hansi Flick’s training early. Instead, the official confirmation is on hold until president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco return from the United States. The pair are attending the FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium before flying back on Tuesday. Because of this, the formal launch is now slated for Wednesday, after they are back.

Training Pause Until Formal Signup

Without an official announcement, Adeyemi cannot train at Barcelona’s facilities, though he visited Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Friday to meet his new teammates and Flick briefly. The 24‑year‑old is keeping fit by working out in his hotel gym while he waits for the club’s formal confirmation. Once the transfer is announced, he is expected to join Flick’s pre‑season preparations immediately. His arrival adds speed and depth to a squad that already includes new signing Anthony Gordon.
