Curve Welcome Big Boy No. 4014 For Special Stadium Stop
Big Boy’s Altoona Visit Impacts Parking
The Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014, the world’s largest locomotive, rolled through central Pennsylvania en route to a historic coast‑to‑coast tour that includes a stop in Blair County. Curve General Manager Nate Bowen said the team is thrilled to host such an impactful event and highlighted that the stadium’s VIP lot and parking garage will be used on Thursday and Friday. Because of the huge crowds expected to see the engine, the lots will be filled with shuttle riders until 4 p.m., and fans heading to Thursday or Friday night games are asked not to arrive before that time. This arrangement ensures a smoother flow for both train viewers and ticket‑holders at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
Thursday’s Shark Night and Bingo Appreciation
Thursday night promises “Jaw‑some” excitement as the Curve turn Peoples Natural Gas Field into Shark Night, complete with fin‑tastic antics and plenty of on‑field action. In addition to the shark theme, the team is hosting a Bingo Appreciation Night, giving participants a chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas. The combined events aim to keep fans entertained whether they’re cheering from the stands or enjoying the special promotions. Overall, it’s a night designed to blend high‑stakes baseball with fun, family‑friendly activities.
Friday’s Historical Theme and Scout Overnight
Friday’s game takes on a patriotic flair as the Curve feature the Pennsylvania Continentals, honoring America250PA, the U.S. Continental Army, and the state’s rich heritage. That same evening also marks the second Scout Night of the season, inviting Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and other packs to an overnight experience at the stadium. Scouts will watch the game and then pitch tents on the field for a true under‑the‑stars sleepover. The dual focus on history and youth engagement underscores the stadium’s role as a community hub beyond regular baseball.
