Lincoln Mageo commits to Michigan football
New offensive line pledge joins Wolverines
Michigan football completed the bulk of its 2027 recruiting during May and June, but the program continued to fill out the class with a key addition in the trenches. The latest commitment is four‑star interior lineman Lincoln Mageo, a prospect from Oceanside High in California. Mageo finalized his pledge on Saturday, July 11, selecting the Wolverines over rivals Utah and Washington.
Background and honors
After an early‑June visit to Ann Arbor, Mageo earned Polynesian Bowl All‑Star recognition. He measures 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 280 pounds, and he held more than 20 Division I offers. Top programs such as Ohio State, Texas and USC were among those in the mix before he chose Michigan.
Scouting report
According to 247Sports analyst Gabe Brooks, Mageo is a strong drive blocker who flashes heavy‑handed pop, especially when sealing runs and supporting pass protection. Brooks sees enough fluidity to project the player to the P4 level as a potential run‑game enforcer.
Rankings and roster impact
Composite rankings place Mageo at No. 19 interior lineman nationally, No. 31 among California prospects, and No. 369 overall in the 2027 class per 247Sports. He becomes the fourth offensive‑line pledge for position coach Jim Harding, joining four‑star Jakari Lipsey and three‑star Sidney Rouleau. Adding Louis Esposito—son of former U‑M defensive line coach Lou Esposito, now with the Baltimore Ravens—creates a deep pipeline for the line. Michigan’s class now totals 21 commits, and the group sits at No. 19 after this addition.

What it means for the Wolverines
The addition of Mageo reinforces Michigan’s emphasis on building depth on the offensive line, a unit already bolstered by several high‑profile recruits. This commitment continues a recruiting surge that saw the majority of the class secured earlier in the summer. As the 2024 season approaches, the talent influx could provide immediate competition and strengthen the line’s performance throughout the campaign.
