From Utah to Chicago: A New Chapter
Ian Cole has officially joined the Chicago Blackhawks, putting pen to paper after a brief but impactful stint with the Utah Mammoth. He is now one of just two players who have appeared in every Utah game this season, a distinction that speaks to his durability and consistency. Cole called his time in the Beehive State a âhuge honorâ and praised the experience that will stay with him for life. He added that leaving was a âvery tough decision,â reflecting the business side of professional sports. The 37âyearâold is eager to bring his leadership to a young Chicago defense that has plenty to learn.
On the defensive front, Cole stands alone as the only Blackhawks blueliner born in the 1980sâand the sole player in the corps born in the 20th century. The nextâoldest defender on the roster is Alex Vlasic, who turned 25 earlier this year.
