Julio Rodríguez’s Return to Action

The Mariners have lifted Julio Rodríguez off the 7‑day injured list and placed him in the lineup for tonight’s game against the Giants. The injury began on July 3 when a throw from Anaheim’s Nolan Shanuel struck the back of Julio’s head during a double‑play attempt. At first he jumped up and sprinted to third base, looking lively, but he quickly realized he was not okay and spent the next two weeks recovering.

Julio had been working his way back to form after a difficult June stretch, and the short layoff helped preserve that progress. He will sit out just one contest of the second half—a period often referred to as Julio’s personal “Julio Season.” Tonight he will take on designated‑hitter duties as he eases back into the lineup.

Roster Moves and Lineup Changes

Seattle also moved Miles Mastrobuoni to the designated‑for‑assignment list, opening a bench spot. The club is short on left‑handed hitting options after a series of one‑sided games, and Mastrobuoni remains its sole lefty on the current bench. He already cleared waivers once this season, giving the Mariners a solid chance to bring him back if he lands in the minors.

In tandem with the roster adjustment, Luke Raley will shift to center field for the evening’s contest, while Julio occupies the DH spot. The moves reflect the team’s effort to balance depth and offensive potential as the season’s second half continues.
