Home Run Derby Adds Kyle Schwarber

Schwarber Joins Phillies Derby Field

Kyle Schwarber has been added to the Home Run Derby lineup for the Philadelphia event scheduled for Monday night. The veteran Phillies slugger will compete in front of his home crowd at Citizens Bank Park, where the atmosphere is sure to be electric. He will share the stage with longtime teammate Bryce Harper, forming a notable duo representing the Phillies in the eight‑man contest.

In addition to Schwarber and Harper, the field includes Boston’s Willson Contreras, Kansas City’s Jac Caglianone, Tampa Bay’s Junior Caminero, St. Louis’ Jordan Walker and the New York Yankees’ Ben Rice. One competitor’s name has yet to be announced, leaving the final spots still up in the air. The announced participants bring a mix of power hitting and recent season success to the derby.

Full 2024 Derby Lineup Revealed

Schwarber enters the derby with a league‑leading 32 home runs at age 33, underscoring his status as one of MLB’s premier power threats. The four‑time All‑Star has amassed 219 long balls since 2022, just one shy of Aaron Judge’s 227 during the same span. His current pace suggests he could add several more extra‑base hits before the competition ends.

This marks Schwarber’s third time competing in the Home Run Derby. He reached the 2018 final before falling to Harper at Nationals Park, and he was eliminated in the opening round of the 2022 event by Albert Pujols. Each appearance has featured different challenges, and the 2024 derby promises fresh competition as he looks to improve on his prior results.
