LIV Golf Returns After 47‑Day Break Amid New Lawsuits

Legal Pressure Mounts

A Canadian technology firm, Mobii Systems Group Limited, has sued LIV for more than $1 million. The lawsuit, filed Friday in a Florida federal court, claims LIV owes $1,134,634.34 for breach of contract, unpaid invoices, and interest related to the “Any Shot, Any Time” streaming service. According to the complaint, an LIV executive told Mobii on May 25 that the league would stop using the company, even though the agreement was not set to expire until the end of the year.

Earlier legal setbacks include a U.K. suit by World Golf Group and Premier Golf League seeking up to $630 million in damages, alleging that LIV and the Saudi PIF stole their concept for a global golf league. A separate U.S. lawsuit was filed by vodka brand Long Island Spirits over trademark infringement of the “LIV” name.

Funding Concerns and Leadership Moves

LIV’s long‑term financing remains unclear. Sources have expressed worry that the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) may not keep funding the league through the final four events of the season. CEO Scott O’Neil declined to guarantee that all August tournaments will proceed as scheduled, echoing previous concerns raised in June.

O’Neil’s absence from the pre‑tournament press conference schedule is notable. He last addressed media at the Virginia event in May and continues to pursue new investors for the league. Meanwhile, O’Neil is not listed for this week’s U.K. press events.

Jon Rahm and members of his LIV team, Legion XIII, are scheduled to speak at Tuesday’s pre‑tournament press conference in the U.K. Bryson DeChambeau will not hold a press conference, as the fallout from his rules violation at the Open Championship continues.
