LSU-Bound Gymnast Claims 2026 U.S. Classic Gold

Reese Esponda Wins 2026 U.S. Classic All‑Around Title

Record‑setting All‑Around Score

Future LSU gymnast Reese Esponda posted a 54.900 all‑around total to claim the championship at the 2026 U.S. Classic in Hartford. She edged out two‑time Olympian Jade Carey, who finished with a 54.050. The 54.900 mark also secured Esponda the floor exercise title, thanks to a 13.950 vault‑less routine.

Esponda’s event‑by‑event scores highlighted her versatility. She opened with a 13.050 on bars, added a solid 13.750 on beam, and delivered a dominant 14.150 on vault—her Yurchenko Double earned the highest vault score of the day. Her 13.950 on floor easily beat the second‑place field, which hovered around 13.300.

Future Tiger Tatum Drusch placed 12th overall with a 50.150 total, aiming to improve ahead of the national championships. Drusch began strong on bars (13.350) but a low 9.900 on beam pulled her down. She recovered with a 13.150 on floor and a solid 13.750 on her Yurchenko 1.5 vault.

Looking Ahead to the National Championships

Both gymnasts are slated to appear at the 2026 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships in August, held in Phoenix. The event will serve as a crucial qualifier for the upcoming Olympic cycle. Fans expect Esponda and Drusch to continue building momentum as the season progresses.
