Christos Tzolis Moves To Arsenal For €40M

Club Brugge Confirms Record Transfer

Ivan Leko has officially announced that Christos Tzolis is heading to Arsenal for a €40 million (£34 million) fee, a move that shatters Club Brugge’s previous transfer record. The 24‑year‑old completed a medical on 17 July after Arsenal agreed the deal, marking a dramatic escalation for a player who arrived at the Belgian club as an emerging talent. The transfer highlights how a relentless work ethic can translate into one of Europe’s biggest contracts.

Arsenal’s Summer Signing

Arsenal completed the acquisition after a scouting flurry, with technical director Andrea Berta guiding the negotiations and Maurizio Micheli observing Tzolis in a friendly against Sweden where he supplied the assist for Greece’s opening goal. The London side had been linked to the winger for months, and his expressed desire to join Arsenal helped push the deal forward. He was reportedly only interested in joining Arsenal, despite receiving offers from several other clubs this month. Tzolis is slated to wear the number 23 shirt and fill the wide‑forward role left vacant by Leandro Trossard’s recent departure. However, Arsenal also keep Morgan Rogers on standby as an alternative forward option.

Impact On Belgian Football

The €40 million fee underscores a new financial benchmark for Belgian clubs, as a player of Tzolis’s calibre commands a price that could fund multiple signings elsewhere. Coach Ivan Leko praised his work ethic, urging youngsters at Club Brugge to follow the dedication it took to climb from a bench player to a European powerhouse. During the 2025/26 season, Tzolis delivered 17 league goals and 23 assists across all competitions, a record‑breaking output for a winger at the club. Across all competitions he logged 51 goal contributions in just 52 appearances, highlighting his unerring ability to influence the game. He netted five times in qualifying and added three more goals in the Champions League proper.
