Nebraska Ranked Ninth in Big Ten Preseason Power Rankings
How Nebraska Fits Into This Year’s Big Ten Order
College basketball analyst Jon Rothstein released his men’s basketball preseason power rankings on Wednesday, and Nebraska landed at ninth place in the Big Ten. Illinois tops the list, followed by Michigan State, Michigan, USC and UCLA, who round out the top five. Purdue, Ohio State and Indiana sit just ahead of the Cornhuskers in the standings.
Returning Stars and New Transfer Options
Nebraska’s recent season ended with a 28-7 record and a Sweet 16 appearance, where they fell to Iowa in a narrow 77-71 contest. Last year the team was projected to finish 14th in several preseason polls but surprised many by emerging as a Cinderella side. Several key players will return, notably Pryce Sandfort and Braden Frager.
Why Nebraska May Top Its Preseason Ranking
The roster will also feature new arrivals from the transfer portal, adding depth and sharpshooting talent. With a blend of experienced contributors and fresh prospects, Nebraska could exceed expectations and repeat last season’s surprising run. The preseason ranking may not fully capture the squad’s upside.
