Rohit Sharma Leads Intense Net Session For IND vs ENG Series

Rohit Sharma’s Long Batting Session At Edgbaston

India Kicks Off Training With Fielding Drills

Rohit Sharma began the two‑hour net session with rigorous fielding exercises before moving to the batting zone. Assisted by fielding coach T Dilip, the former India captain spent almost sixty minutes facing the machines under the hot sun. As seven ODI squad members trained for the second consecutive day, Rohit’s extended stint stood out for its intensity. The 39‑year‑old’s focus was clear from the start, aiming to be sharp for the long days ahead in the series.

Rohit Shuffles Ends And Works On Open‑Net Play

After the primary trio of Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul wrapped up their drills, Rohit moved to a side net beside Gurnoor Brar. He initially looked uncomfortable with the first set of deliveries but quickly decided to switch ends for a better angle. Later, Rohit requested another equipment change, prompting support staff and spin‑bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule to coordinate with the ground crew for net adjustments. The throwdown specialists—Nuwan Senaviratne, Dayanand Garani and Raghavendra—assisted in untangling the webbing, ensuring smooth practice conditions.

Kohli Tackles Seam And Finds Balance

Virat Kohli started his session confronting sharp seamers like Jasprit Bumrah, Gurnoor Brar and a local Birmingham club bowler. Having focused much of Saturday on spin work, Kohli faced the new pace on Sunday while KL Rahul and Gill rotated duties. He appeared jittery at first but quickly settled when he moved to the spinners, showing his characteristic composure. After the drills, Kohli stayed on the field to share insights with Brar, eager to help the young seamer improve.

Final Preparations Before The Series

The entire contingent, including T20I players who were in Southampton for the fifth match, will gather for a concluding practice session on Monday, July 13. After that, the three‑match ODI series kicks off the following day. The schedule then moves to Cardiff on July 16 before concluding in London on July 19. The team’s focus remains on fine‑tuning batting combinations and fielding standards ahead of the opening fixture.

With Rohit’s long batting stretch, Kohli’s balanced approach and the team’s disciplined drills, India looks set for a solid start to the ODI series. The final Monday session should tie up any loose ends before the spotlight shifts to Edgbaston for the opener.
