Team Penske Powers to Front Row at EchoPark
Blaney Secures Pole Position
Ryan Blaney captured the pole for Sunday night’s NASCAR Cup Series event at EchoPark Speedway, posting a lap time of 30.815 seconds at 179.912 mph. The driver, who sits third in the points standings, described the front‑row start as “feels good to have a Penske front row.” He added that he can work well with other Ford drivers, hoping the team will get organized as the race unfolds. Blaney’s performance puts him in prime position to chase the leaders later in the field.
Logano Joins Front Row Alongside Blaney
Joey Logano, Blaney’s teammate, followed closely in second place with a 30.851‑second lap at 179.702 mph. The duo’s back‑to‑back front‑row effort gives Team Penske a strong launching point for the 200‑lap contest. Logano echoed the optimism, noting the benefit of starting together at the front of the grid. Their combined speed also reinforces Penske’s reputation for strong qualifying runs on intermediate tracks.
Points Leaders Find Themselves Far Down the Grid
Denny Hamlin, the current points leader, and Tyler Reddick, second in the championship, qualified only 28th and 31st respectively for the 23XI Racing Toyotas. Blaney predicted the Toyotas could be aggressive in the draft, referencing the spring race where they performed well. Reddick, who won at EchoPark on February 22, now starts from near the back of the field. Their struggles in qualifying could impact their chances of contending for the win.
Grid Fill‑Out with Notable Names
Kyle Larson secured third in qualifying, followed by Austin Dillon and Daniel Suarez. Hendrick Motorsports teammates Alex Bowman and Chase Elliott rounded out the top seven, with Elliott holding the distinction of winning last summer’s race at his home track near Atlanta. Austin Cindric, Ross Chastain, and Brad Keselowski completed the top ten spots. The mix of drivers promises a competitive field with several past winners vying for the checkered flag.
