Roster Moves Ahead of Training Camp

The Seahawks announced two roster changes on Tuesday just before training camp began. They released veteran tight end Harrison Bryant and signed undrafted rookie cornerback Brandon Johnson. The moves are typical of pre‑season roster shuffling as Seattle looks to finalize its 90‑player roster.

Johnson spent the previous season with the Philadelphia Eagles as a rookie from Oregon. He appeared in three NFL games but logged most of his time on the practice squad. After being waived by the Eagles last month, Johnson is now hoping to earn a spot on Seattle’s defensive backfield.

Bryant had joined the Seahawks in April after a year with the Houston Texans. Prior stops for the tight end include stints with the Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and Cleveland Browns. His release suggests the Seahawks are trimming depth at the tight end position heading into camp.

Seattle’s rookies are already in attendance, while veteran players will arrive on Friday. The team’s first official practice is slated for Saturday. These roster tweaks give the Seahawks flexibility to shape their final 53‑man roster before the regular season.
