Charles Snowden Suspended Three Games
League Takes Action After DUI Plea Deal
The NFL imposed a three‑game suspension on Charles Snowden beginning with the season’s first weeks, following his recent plea agreement to settle a misdemeanor DUI charge.
News of the penalty was released by the league office on Tuesday, confirming the discipline would take effect once rosters are trimmed to 53 players.
Snowden remains eligible to appear in all preseason activities, including exhibition games, so the ban does not impact his off‑season preparation.
How the Arrest Unfolded
Police in Las Vegas apprehended Snowden in 2024 while he was behind the wheel of his Jeep Cherokee, finding him passed out with the engine still running.
Investigators reported that the vehicle had nearly plunged off a four‑foot retaining wall during the incident.
Two separate blood tests later recorded BAC levels of .18 and .19, more than double the legal limit of .08.
Legal Resolution and Penalties
After initially pleading not guilty, Snowden entered a no‑contest plea in January, agreeing to a $1,000 fine and mandatory coroner and DUI‑related classes.
As part of the plea bargain, the original DUI charge was conditionally reduced to reckless driving, pending completion of the court‑ordered requirements.
Career Snapshot Before the Suspension
The defensive end has logged three seasons in the league, spending 2021 with the Chicago Bears and the 2024‑25 campaigns with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Snowden signed with the Dallas Cowboys in June as a free agent, securing a one‑year, $1.1 million contract.
During his time with the Raiders he appeared in 31 games, starting 18, and contributed 4.5 sacks, 67 tackles, eight tackles for loss and 11 quarterback hits.
What This Means for the Cowboys
With the Cowboys aiming to return to the playoffs after missing the postseason in 2024 and 2025, Snowden is expected to bolster the defensive line depth.
His experience and production from previous seasons could help the team’s pursuit of a playoff berth next fall.
