Jordon Ibe Pleads Guilty to Assault Over Ex‑Girlfriend’s Hair
Court Hearing and Guilty Plea
Former Bournemouth and Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe entered a guilty plea after pulling a braid from his ex‑partner Amie Mayson’s head during a heated argument in Lambeth. The assault occurred on 14 December outside Ms Mayson’s home, prompting a denial of the charge in March that was later withdrawn. Croydon Magistrates’ Court heard that Ibe had a bag of drinks, snacks and flowers, but the situation escalated when Mayson threw muffins at him and called him a “druggy.” He responded by grabbing her hair, leaving a bald patch.
Prosecutors described the incident as a confrontation that began over money Ibe was asked to repay. Ibe, who had been arrested at Luton Airport on 30 January, appeared in court to confirm his details and change his plea. District Judge Polly Gledhill noted the case would likely involve a community order and ordered a pre‑sentence report, urging Ibe to be “as honest and open” as possible with probation.
Victim’s Statement and Emotional Impact
In a victim impact statement read to the court, Mayson said the attack shattered her confidence, self‑esteem and self‑worth. She described looking in the mirror as “very distressing” and said the injury remains a constant reminder that leaves her “emotionally drained and upset.” The court heard that the incident continues to affect her daily life and mental health.
Judge Gledhill imposed bail conditions that forbid Ibe from contacting Mayson or visiting her address. He will return for sentencing on 4 September, with the judge indicating she is not ruling out any punishment options.
Ibe’s Football Career and Recent Moves
Ibe signed for Liverpool in 2012, making 58 appearances across all competitions before moving to Derby County and Birmingham City. He spent four seasons with AFC Bournemouth, playing 92 matches between 2016 and 2020, and later dropped into non‑league football. His most recent club is Lokomotiv Sofia in the Bulgarian First League, where he joined in November 2025.
The career highlights include an under‑21 international stint for England, though the recent legal issues have shifted focus from the pitch to the courtroom. The club has not commented on the situation beyond confirming his registration.

The case underscores the legal consequences that can follow off‑field behavior for high‑profile athletes. As Ibe awaits sentencing, the football community and fans will watch how the judicial system shapes his future both personally and professionally.
