Disney-Champion Nfl Collection Unpacked At Fanatics Fest
New Era Of Sports‑Fashion Collaboration
Disney is re‑entering the NFL broadcast landscape after more than two decades, and the first fruit of this partnership is an apparel line launched Thursday at Fanatics Fest in New York City. The limited‑edition pieces pair iconic Disney characters with every NFL franchise, signaling a fresh intersection of sports and style. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, along with stars like Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Emmitt Smith, Fernando Mendoza, Dion Dawkins and Damar Hamlin, graced the main stage for a live fan draft.
The event, hosted by Taylor Rooks and featuring appearances from CJ Mosley, Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham and WWE’s Alexa Bliss, unveiled nine initial team‑character combos. These include the Dallas Cowboys with Woody, the Las Vegas Raiders with Darth Vader, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Captain Hook, the New England Patriots with Captain America, the Buffalo Bills with Beast, the New York Giants with Wreck‑It Ralph, the Philadelphia Eagles with Dr. Doom, the Washington Commanders with Hamm, and the New York Jets with Buzz Lightyear.
Key Figures Behind The Draft
Casey Collins, NFL senior vice president of consumer products and licensing, framed the project as a blend of branding and fashion. Bret Healey, Disney’s director of graphic design, explained the selection process: each team was matched to a character whose spirit mirrored the franchise’s history and fan base. Paul Gitter, Disney’s EVP of global commercialization, highlighted the launch as a milestone for deepening engagement throughout the “Year of the Super Bowl.”
Healey noted that some matches sparked internal debate, such as linking the Jets with Buzz Lightyear to echo the team’s space‑age origins and the Eagles’ Dr. Doom tie‑in reflecting the character’s villainous flair. The draft showcased how storytelling can amplify fandom, according to Lance Fensterman, CEO of Fanatics Events, who called the gathering a once‑in‑a‑season moment.
First Look At The Collection
While nine pairings have been revealed, the full lineup will eventually cover all 32 teams, with the complete range set to debut in August. The designs will be available through Fanatics and Disney’s online stores, giving fans a chance to purchase official gear featuring the unique character‑team mashups. The launch caps off a week of fan‑centric programming at Fanatics Fest, positioning the collaboration as a centerpiece of Disney’s return to NFL broadcasting.
With the draft completed and the first looks released, the Disney‑Champion NFL Collection is set to become a staple for fans looking to express both team pride and pop‑culture love in one garment.
