Elfyn Evans Extends WRC Title Lead After Estonia Rally

Evans Solidifies Championship Edge

Elfyn Evans finished sixth at Delfi Rally Estonia but still enlarged his advantage in the hunt for a first World Rally Championship title.

He and co‑driver Scott Martin were just over two minutes behind Sami Pajari on Sunday after the 18 stages began Friday.

The Japanese driver Takamoto Katsuta held onto second place despite a 21st‑place finish, while Evans earned eight points to open a 15‑point gap over his nearest rival, Pajari.

Pajari Claims Maiden Victory

Sami Pajari and his Finnish co‑driver Marko Salminen celebrated their first win together at Estonia, propelling Pajari to third in the overall standings.

The victory marked a breakthrough for the young driver and gave him valuable momentum heading into the remaining events.

Top Finishers in Estonia

Sweden’s Oliver Solberg and British co‑driver Elliott Edmondson secured second place in the rally.

Adrian Formaux (France), Thierry Neuville (Belgium) and Sebastien Ogier (France) filled the next three spots in third through fifth.

Other Irish Performances

Motorsport Ireland’s Jon Armstrong finished ninth overall, while countryman Josh McErlean, who had his best result with a fourth in Greece, ended the Estonian event in 43rd position.

Road to the Title

With five rallies left, beginning in Finland from 30 July to 2 August, teams will now prepare for the final stretch that will decide the 2026 champion.

The competition promises tighter battles as points are up for grabs across the remaining events.
