Cam Treble Shines at English Para Surfing Open

Cam Treble entered the English Para Surfing Open on Fistral Beach, Newquay, marking his second competitive outing in the discipline. The Cornwall competitor praised the “incredible volunteers” and described the atmosphere as “absolutely epic.” Despite his recent return, he managed to keep pace with top athletes, earning a special shout‑out from Surfing England.

Abbie Potts and Finn Jones, both members of the Team England Para Development Squad, collected medals at the event on Saturday. Their successes highlight the growing talent pool within the para surfing community. The competition featured nine distinct classifications, ranging from visual impairment and spinal injury categories to seated, standing and kneeling events.

Jack Patching, representing Surfing England, explained that the event’s structure lets athletes from “far and wide” join the water. He noted the broad spectrum of classes ensures nearly everyone can compete. The varied divisions also mean surfers “absolutely ripped” across every level, creating a dynamic field.

Looking ahead, Surfing England calls Cam Treble a “promising prospect” for the future of English para surfing. The organization hopes to see much more of him in upcoming competitions. With the standard on show and strong camaraderie among participants, the sport’s outlook appears brighter than ever.

All of the event’s results are available online.
